SECTION ONE: PROCESS OVERVIEW
TITLE: What are you calling this process?
> Post an Upwork job
SUMMARY: A one-sentence description of the process.
> Bi-weekly newsletter with an overview of forum activity, to provide updates to our clients, going out every other Saturday.
WHY: Briefly explain why the process is important.
> Since the forum is growing bigger and bigger, it is really easy to miss something that is important for them. This brief overview helps others to go through the most important topics that were discussed over the last 2 weeks.
INTERVAL: How often does this process need to be complete?
> Every other Thursday (as it is checked and polished for grammar by Maria overnight and then final check on Friday by Tomas or Andrew)
SECTION TWO: PROCESS EXECUTION
STEP #1
Log in to upwork account upwork.com
STEP #2
Jobs - post a job - create a new job
STEP #3
Start typing and select the job that is nearest to the one you are looking for
STEP #4
Describe a job in details - job posting and the description of what you need to do (you can also add attachments)
STEP #5
Select type of the project - one time - ongoing - not sure? Do you want to hire just one or more freelancers? What skills they should have and what is the start date?
STEP #6
Is it a one time job? Or ongoing task? How much time will it take?... again - just estimations
Again - just your estimations - if you select entry levels, you will still get offers for $20. It is only to tell freelancers what you are looking for. But you can always hire someone more/less expensive for a longer-shorter period than specified.
I almost always go by the hour - you can reach to them whenever you have something and you don't have to negotiate about the price for each task.
If the freelancer doesn't work for you for 30 days, the contract is automatically paused and then cancelled. But you can always re-hire them.
STEP #7
Freelancer preferences
In this section, I select just Upwork users (as you can see their history and rating) and you can also invite some of those you have already worked with in the past.
STEP #8
Qualifications
I only work with those who have 90% and above - actually I try to get as close as possible to 100%, it is not impossible. But in general over 95%. You can always decide based on the feedback of the freelancer.
And it is good if they have already worked over upwork for at least 100 hours - it is not a condition, but it tells you that they are used to work online.
Usually I skip this filter, leave it blank and I apply this filter later on, to filter out the good applicants.
STEP #9
Questions - cover letter
I usually don't ask any additional questions, it might work for really specific jobs - when looking for a designer - send me an sample of your previous work (e.g. Christmas cards)
And I always ask for a cover letter - it is good to read about the applicant little bit.
STEP #10
Post a job and wait for applications
STEP #11
When you will start getting applications, you can filter them using the filter button on the top
STEP #12
Hire
When you find the right person, hire him/her!
