SECTION ONE: PROCESS OVERVIEW

TITLE: What are you calling this process?

> Presentation slides checklist

SUMMARY: A one-sentence description of the process.

> How to create the presentation slides.

WHY: Briefly explain why the process is important.

> Because we want to make sure the presentations are error-free and they all follow the same structure.

INTERVAL: How often does this process need to be complete?

> When we have the content ready.

SECTION TWO: PROCESS EXECUTION

STEP #1

Content

  1. Format 16:9 (13.33 to 7.5 inches)

  1. Always PPT(X) format - so that we can easily edit the text, add notes for presentators, display one bullet at a time, etc

  1. Overall introduction slide first

  1. Disclaimer slide 2nd

  1. Title slide 3rd

  1. Instructions on how to ask questions using the chat usually 4th (for live webinars)

  1. Fonts - make sure the same fonts and font sizes are used for titles/subtitles and text

  1. Check all spelling

  1. Check all grammar

  1. building slides - consider how slide points are presented during the video/presentation. Too many points at once could overwhelm and reduce the impact so most times it may be appropriate do only display slide points as they are discussed, however there could be exceptions to this (eg. need to show a flowchart with all points at once to demonstrate process).

  1. bullet points - each new point starts with a capital letter

  1. bullets and numbering at 100% size of the text

STEP #2

Images

  1. Images can be used to enhance the point in the slides

  1. If a slide has only 1 point then it's probably best to include an image to maintain interest.

  1. Stock images can be used from 123rf.com but they should be highly related to the points in the slide (don't show a generic trading image when the slide is talking about something very specific, there needs to be a clear connection instead of a vague one)

  1. Timings – slides should change every 60 seconds or less, we don’t want to be stuck on the same slide for more than 60 seconds where possible as people can lose interest

STEP #3

Slide layout

We need to watch the spacing of the content, it looks better when there is some gap at the top, it should only be right at the top when there is lots of content or images below (not too often). It is better to move the text down and space it out more.

STEP #4

Design

  1. Footer is there

  1. Make sure disclaimer is in the footer and that logo is fully visible

  1. the header doesn't use capitals

  1. presentation mode - all bullet points are revealed one by one

  1. check spelling and grammar

  1. all slides having the same layout

STEP #5

Bullet points

  1. Number of bullets should be kept to less than 6, don’t put too much on 1 slide

  1. try to use short summarised sentences instead of long wording,

  2. bullet points should be relevant and major points only (small details should not be included if not really relevant)
